This code of conduct has been prepared so that all young people and team members are able to take responsibility for keeping everyone safe and managing expectations during the EYE 2025 event, with the understanding and support of parents/carers. Please read this carefully.
We ask all young people:
- To treat everyone involved in the event with respect at all times regardless of age, race, ability or gender.
- To stay within the site boundary at all times unless on an organised activity.
- To abide by the arrangements made, obey all signs and follow the instructions of leaders during all activities.
- Never to use equipment or an activity area unless a member of staff is present or unless previously agreed.
- To show respect for property and the site by keeping accommodation clean and tidy, using litter bins provided and reporting any damage to your youth leader or the information desk.
- To show respect for the privacy and property of others by not going into other delegates’ tents or accommodation. Rooms will be allocated on a gender and age basis and we ask that for those camping, that tents are split by gender and age (i.e. female/male and over/under 18’s).
- To abide by the arrangements made for the use of mobile phones, phones with cameras, laptop computers, which are as follows:
- Please do not use phones, etc. during organised activities/sessions
- Please be aware that, for a variety of reasons, not everybody at EYE will have given photo consent. Therefore, please do not post photos to social media without the consent of those in the pictures. Please ask the permission of others before taking photos.
- Absolutely no photo’s to be taken in the swimming pool or bathroom/toilet areas.
- To obey any age or time restrictions on shower and toilet areas (eg over/under 18s).
Please understand the following:
- If a young person is posing a danger to themselves or others by their behaviour, arrangements will be made for them to go home. Such behaviour could include bullying, drinking alcohol, taking drugs or other inappropriate behaviour in the context of community life.
- For the sake of the good of the whole group, we ask young people not to smoke/vape, gamble or bring any pornographic material, alcohol or drugs. (Recognising that not all delegates are members [soldiers], please speak to your local TYCS - DYS for UK - if you feel you may have a problem with this)
Staff are also asked to sign a code of conduct for the event. For your information, this includes an agreement that:
- They will work according to the Salvation Army EYE safeguarding policy at all times
- There will always be at least two adults with a group of young people
- They will not make personal social contact with the young person outside of the context of the activities
- If they keep in email contact with a young person under 18 after the event, it is to be with the parents’/guardian’s knowledge and consent and through the appropriate contact (corps officer/TYCS)
